ROCHESTER, Minn. - A 21-year-old Cleveland, Minn. man was struck and killed early Sunday morning while walking near County Road 12 in Blue Earth County.
The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department received a report of an individual walking down the middle of County Road 12 near the airport at about 6 a.m. The responding deputy checked the area but was not able to immediately locate the individual.
A short time later he observed two vehicles pulled over on County Road 2, just east of the intersection with County Road 12.
A driver involved in a crash had pulled over after he struck what he thought was a deer. A trailing drive also pulled over after he saw what he believed was a person lying in the roadway.
The man who was hit was identified as Travis Lee Albright. He was taken by Mayo One to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester where he later died.
The driver of the vehicle is a 30-year-old Medford man. The incident remains under investigation.
