EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Hundreds attended a funeral for Mandy Matula on Sunday afternoon in Eden Prairie.
Funeral services were held at Grace Church in Eden Prairie.
Matula's family spoke to the congregation first. Her brother said "he couldn't have asked for a better sister."
Her father, again, thanked all the volunteers and police who helped search for her.
And teammates from Matula's University of Minnesota-Duluth softball each took the stage. They called her a selfless competitor and they retired her jersey number.
The 24-year-old Matula went missing in May, and her remains were found Oct. 26 in a shallow grave in Stearns County.
Police believe she was shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend, David Marshall Roe. He shot and killed himself after agreeing to meet police for questioning.
