EAGAN, Minn. - Friends and pastors are remembering the life of 16-year-old Max Lowell.
"He truly had the joy of Christ in his heart," said Ken Clark, a friend of Lowell's from River Valley Church in Apple Valley. "You would see him and you knew he loved people."
Lowell died after a violent crash on Cliff Road in Eagan. Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Lowell's car rolled and struck a power pole. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
"He had just dropped me off and he said 'I'll see you Monday,'" said Jake Lacina, a teammate on the Cretin Derham Hall football team. "I can't believe this happened. He was such a great guy."
A guard on the high school football team, Lowell is described as someone who "lived out his faith," even traveling to Costa Rica on a missions trip this summer.
"He told us he had a calling to become a pastor and to minister to people," said Zach Perske. "I thought that was so cool."
Authorities from the Eagan Police Department and the State Patrol are investigating the crash. Alcohol was not detected at the scene.
