ENOSHA, Wis. - A 5-year-old Kenosha boy who was mauled by a pit bull over the weekend is recovering from a deep wound on the back of his head.
A Kenosha News report (http://bit.ly/HRj91S ) says the boy also had wounds on the back of his neck, shoulder and upper back.
The family was dog-sitting the animal when it bit the boy. The boy's mother says she saw her son face-down with the male dog biting the back of his head.
She jumped in and pried the dog's teeth from her son's head but the dog latched onto the boy's shoulder. She managed to pull it off and chain it before calling 911.
Police say the boy was in stable condition later that night. The dog was taken to Safe Harbor Humane Society.
