OAKDALE, Minn. - Oakdale police say a driver has come forward who may have struck and injured a 5-year-old boy Friday night.
Squads were dispatched to "Pump it Up" in Oakdale just after 7:30 p.m. on a report of an accident involving a SUV and a young boy. When officers arrived they found the victim's father holding his son, who suffered what is reported to be a badly broken leg and a fractured pelvis.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark SUV strike the boy and leave the scene, but were unable to see a license plate number.
Captain Jack Kettler of the Oakdale PD tells KARE 11 that the motorist who may have hit the boy contacted authorities and is cooperating in the investigation.
He cautions that it is being called an "alleged" hit-and-run because investigators aren't sure yet whether the motorist knew he hit the child before leaving the scene.
The suspected driver is not in custody.
