ANOKA, Minn. - A woman wanted for robbing a Minnesota bank is finally behind bars after turning herself in to authorities in California.
Blaine Police Chief Chris Olson says the suspect, Shawna Marie Pearson, contacted police in the San Diego area and surrendered in connection with the robbery of the TCF Bank inside the Blaine Cub Store October 23.
Amazingly clear surveillance photos of both the robber and the getaway vehicle were distributed to the media, resulting in a quick identification of Pearson as the suspect. Police subsequently learned that Pearson and her boyfriend had been involved in a car crash near Mankato, and that she had been taken to detox. She was released before police could arrest her.
A warrant was issued for Pearson's arrest and she was officially charged in the bank robbery.
After several weeks Blaine Police learned that Pearson had turned herself in to California authorities, and she was extradited back to Minnesota.
Shawna Marie Pearson appeared in court on Monday, November 18, and was ordered held at the Anoka County Jail on $30,000.00 bail.
