RICHFIELD, Minn. -- A wife in Richfield has been charged in the stabbing death of her husband.
Amreya Rahmeto Shefa, 40, faces one charge of murder in the second degree.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened after Shefa and her husband got into an argument at their home.
Police say they were called to the home on the 7000 block of 12th Avenue South in Richfield around 5 a.m. on Sunday. The caller told police there was an assault in progress.
The complaint states that when police arrived they saw a woman, later identified as Shefa, with blood on her hands and arms exiting the house.
When they went inside, they found two children, who they were able to remove from the house. Officers then continued through the home and found the body of a man, later identified as Shefa's husband, in the bathtub. According to the complaint, the man was nude, except for socks, and covered in blood.
Police tried to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shefa was taken to HCMC for medical attention for a cut to her hand, and then taken into custody.
The complaint states Shefa eventually admitted to stabbing her husband multiple times. She said she attacked him after he told her he wanted to bring another woman into their bedroom.
