Bail has been set at $2 million for a man charged with two counts of second-degree murder for the shooting deaths of two men in a Minneapolis home on Halloween.
Val Derrick Diggins, 51, entered the home on Wednesday night and shot and killed Charles Edward Woods-Wilson and Ira Lee Brown Jr., Minneapolis police alleged on Saturday.
According to a police report, Diggins burst into the house on the city's north side and demanded money and valuables. After he was given some money, police said, Diggins walked over to Woods-Wilson, "told him that he should not have messed with him," and then shot Woods-Wilson in the head.
Brown was upstairs at the time of the shooting and heard the commotion. He came downstairs and tried to run away, but Diggins shot Brown in the back three times, police said.
A witness who was inside the house at the time of the murders picked Diggins' picture out of a photo lineup, police said.
Diggins was being held at the Hennepin County jail.
