Imagine Hula-Hooping continuously was 88 hours... well that's the world record. An expert in hooping, Jean Hooper, will be at Mall of America® on Saturday, Sept. 27 teaching kids and adults how to dance with the Hula Hoop to improve health and boost self esteem. Hooper has created a fitness program called "Hoop with Me" that encourages kids and adults to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and to be physically active every day. Hooper teaches how to dance inside a hoop using classic songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s and the top hits of today as a fun alternative for kids and adults to exercise without even realizing they are working out.
On the 50th anniversary of the original Hula Hoop, Hooper, the official "Hoop" spokesperson for Maui Toys®, will show how to use the revolutionary water weighted Wave Hoop® at her hoop sessions at Mall of America. The water inside the hoop works as a counter balance, so the hoop is easier for novices to use. As a result, many who could never hoop before can now participate.
Hooper, a former couch potato, got the idea to start hooping after finding out a friend had used a hoop to help tone her abs. Tired of boring workouts, she decided to try hooping. She immediately realized how easy and fun it was, resulting in a more fit and toned body. Hooper decided she wanted to share the joy and ease of working out using the Hula Hoop with the rest of America and has since taught 200,000 elementary, junior high and high school students how to hoop.
