A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of murder and a 22-year-old man is charged with criminal sexual conduct after a baby turned up dead in a shoe box.
Authorities were called to the girl's St. Paul house Thursday night to check on the status of a newborn. The baby was already dead, and the girl admitted she had tied a sock around its neck.
Paramedics had been called to the house earlier when the girl complained of stomach pain. At Regions Hospital, she told hospital personnel she had given birth and placed the baby in a shoe box in her bedroom.
Marvin Alex Alvizurez is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The girl told investigators she and the man had a consensual sexual relationship and that she had concealed her pregnancy from her family.
