"I relax by doing something and sharing."

At age 93, Pearl Anderson is not about to rest on her laurels. While most of her peers are reflecting back on their lives, Pearl is focused on the future and how she can continue to help others. Thousands of people have benefited from her efforts.

Pearl's desire to volunteer started at an early age. Her parents were adamant about two things --- pursing an education, and sharing your blessings with those who don't have them. Her 'sharing' has gone on for decades. For sixty years, Pearl has been volunteering for the Ebenezer Auxiliary. She doesn't take the easy jobs. Recently, Pearl's been working as an Alzheimer's patient feeder. "This is most rewarding. You go home realizing your blessings." For seventy years, she's been making quilts for people in need.

She's served in a variety of volunteer capacities with Elim Lutheran Church. Additionally, she's a founding member of the North Minneapolis Chapter of Meals on Wheels where she provides board leadership. And she still occasionally packs meals for delivery. As for her ability to share her talents for so many years, Pearl puts all the credit in one place. "All thanks be to God."
