BLAINE, Minn. -- Self-confidence. Discipline. Exercise.
Just a few of the benefits from participating in the martial arts.
But the sports isn't just for kids.
"We see anyone from ages three to 73," says Master Aaron Kim from Kim's Taekwondo Center. "We've had grandmas come in and take classes."
Taekwondo instruction from the Kim family isn't new to the Twin Cities, in fact, they've been teaching traditional martial arts for 40 years. The founder is Aaron's father, Grand Master Il K. Kim, a 9th degree black belt.
"He's one of the best in the world," says Aaron. "He's instructed the instructors."
The school isn't new, but their location is. Kim's Taekwondo Center has moved from Fridley to Blaine and they will officially kick-start the school on Saturday, March 5th.
"We have four-times more space than our previous location," Master Kim. "We're very excited about it."
Anyone interested in learning more about martial arts classes, Saturday might be the perfect time to try it all out. During their grand-opening, the school will offer Kung Fu and Taekwondo demonstrations to the public plus a chance for women to take part in free self-defense seminars.
Free kid's classes will be offered too.
"With children we teach them discipline, respect, and confidence," says Master Kim. "Those lessons carry over into the home life and school, too."
