REDWOOD FALLS -- A mudslide caused by the rapid snowmelt has closed a highway in southwestern Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol shut down Highway 19 and 71 between Redwood Falls and Morton.

It's believed the mudslide was caused by saturated soil due to the snow melt.

A detour has been established on Redwood County 1, Redwood County 24, and Redwood County Road 2.

Officials expect the highway will remain closed for a couple of days.
