LEWISTON, Minn. -- A LaCrosse, Wisconsin woman is hospitalized in critical condition after her van hit a cow in southern Minnesota.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 90 south of Lewiston. Authorities say 36-year-old Svetlana Schmitz was driving westbound on the I-90 when her van struck a cow and rolled.
Schmitz, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for treatment. A passenger in the van suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
The westbound lanes of I-90 were closed for about an hour as authorities worked to clear the accident.
