GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn -- Big dogs, little dogs, barkers, puppies, runners, show dogs, not-so-showy dogs will get their chance to shine at the annual Bark For Life fundraising events to be held during May.
The events are as follows:
• May 7, Woodbury, Ojibway Park, 8:30am til 11am
• May 28, Waconia, Knights of Columbus Waconia, 9055 Klein Drive, 10am to noon
Walks of about a mile will mirror the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, held at more than 150 locations in Minnesota each year. Relay For Life, the world's largest grassroots fundraising movement is normally held at an athletic track, park or other public gathering place.
The big difference in this event is that literally hundreds of canines will lead the walk around the parks. All canines are welcome, including family pets, guide dogs, service dogs, rescue dogs, police dogs, therapy dogs, cancer survivor dogs and diagnostic dogs.
Kids can look forward to the food, games and dog guidance and tips presentations by local trainers. Fundraising teams are still being formed for events.
Funds raised go directly to the American Cancer Society's ongoing effort to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back against cancer.
