MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Lynx welcomed a huge turnout of fans to help celebrate the team's WNBA championship in the Twin Cities Tuesday morning.
After the parade, throngs of fans streamed from the streets of Minneapolis into the Target Center to celebrate their Lynx and the first major championship trophy to come home to Minnesota in 20 years.
The Lynx swept the Atlanta Dream in three games, bringing Minnesota its first professional sports championship since the Minnesota Twins won the World Series in 1991.
Gov. Mark Dayton hosted a breakfast for the team at his residence and the parade downtown started at 11:30 a.m. with a celebration at the Target Center right after.
Seehusen tells Minnesota Public Radio that after a little down time many of the players will head overseas to play in the European leagues.
