WAYZATA, Minn. - The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) used American Recycles Day to expand one popular program and expand another.
Message in a Bottle
Message in a Bottle is an "away from home" recycling program for bottles and cans. It uses bottle shaped collection bins at convenience stores to collect beverage containers. On November 15th, RAM announced the expansion of the program from 10 to 150 locations in the Twin Cities metro area.
"The goal is to have recycling at every convenience store in the metro," said Ellen Telander, Executive Director of RAM.
RAM expects each participating store will collect approximately 3,000 pounds of recyclables each year.
Visit the RAM website for more information on Message in a Bottle.
REseat
REseat is a new program that allows residents to recycle child safety seats which cannot be used again.
"The plastic will be chipped up and made into children's playground equipment," said RAM's Kellie Kish.
"We often get calls from Minnesotans who do not want to throw these away, so we decided to do something about it," added Telander.
Car seats can be dropped off at RAM's office at 852B Lake Street in Wayzata. For more information call the office during business hours at 952-473-0048.
