ST. PAUL, Minn. - Drivers along University Avenue in St. Paul will get some relief from a months-long traffic headache by days  end Wednesday.

Construction crews are working to open University Avenue to 2 lanes in each direction between Emerald Street and Hamline Avenue.

That stretch of road has been under construction since this spring as part of the Central Corridor Light Rail Line, impacting both drivers and businesses in the area.

Once finished, the Central Corridor project will connect Minneapolis and St. Paul along University Avenue. Central Corridor representative Laura Baenen says the project is one-third complete, and is expected to be wrapped up in 2014.

Baenen stresses that construction isn't over, and warns commuters to expect some temporary lane closures along University Ave. even after lanes are opened today.
