ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. - The police officer who died while on duty in St. Louis Park on Wednesday has been identified.
St. Louis Park Police Chief John Luse says the officer was 37-year-old Mike Pollitz. He had served on the St. Louis Park Police Department since 2005.
Pollitz experienced an acute medical emergency around 2:19 p.m. Wednesday, according to Luse. His condition deteriorated rapidly and Pollitz went into cardiac arrest. Pollitz was then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died.
"Our department and the Pollitz family are grateful for the thoughts and prayers of our community and all those who have expressed their love and compassion during this difficult time," Luse said in a statement.
Pollitz is survived by his wife and two young children.
