VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. - The driver of a pickup truck that plunged into a lake in Vadnais Heights over the weekend has died.
The driver, 46-year-old Michael Lange, was trapped under water for an estimated 15 minutes when his truck left Vadnais Boulevard near Rice Street around 8 p.m. Sunday and landed upside down in the water.
Ramsey County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Kramer, stationed just blocks from the crash scene, responded and quickly put on a wet suit. With help from other first responders Kramer was able to pull Lange from the cab but found he did not have a pulse, according to Ramsey County Sheriff's Department spokesman Randy Gustafson.
Gustafson says the victim's pulse was restored on the way to Regions Medical Center, but he passed away just after 9:10 p.m.
The Minnesota State Patrol reconstructing the scene in an attempt to determine what caused Lange to lose control.
