GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- New Year's Eve isn't just a party for grown-ups. Kids can get in on the fun, too, at the Miracles of Mitch gala at the Hilton MSP Airport Hotel. The family friendly event features great food, a dance and plenty of games and activities for the kids.
Betsy Grams with the Miracles of Mitch Foundation and Eric Baker, Executive Chef at the Hilton, stopped by KARE 11 News @4 to talk about the event. Chef Baker shared also shared this recipe.
Holiday chocolate dipped strawberries
12 oz. Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips or desired chocolate of your choice
12 fresh strawberries
Holiday decorating sweets
Peppermint, red and white sugar
Holly berry and leaves
Red, white and blue sprinkles
To melt chocolate
Place chocolate in a double boiler
Put a couple of inches of water into a sauce pot
Bring water to a boil
Place a stainless bowl over the sauce pot
Put the chocolate into the boil and melt
Remove bowl from heat
Hold the strawberry by the green top and dip into the chocolate. Twist the strawberry a little to get the chocolate all around the strawberry.
Place the strawberry on a plate.
While the chocolate is still warm on the strawberry sprinkle the desired topping over the strawberry. Place the strawberries into the refrigerator to firm the chocolate up.
