RED LAKE FALLS, Minn. -- Two people died in an accident Thursday night after the driver lost control of their vehicle and struck a tree.

The car crash occurred on Highway 32 near 4th Street in Red Lake Falls just after 11 p.m.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 32 when authorities say the driver lost control on the wet and slushy road and slid sideways into a tree.

The driver, 30-year-old Terry Balderston, and 19-year-old Shawn Balderston, of Red Lake Falls, were transported to a hospital in Crookston where they were pronounced dead.

Authorites say both victims were not wearing their seatbelt.

Red Lake County Sheriff's Office, along with the Minnesota State Patrol, responded to the accident.
