MASON CITY, Iowa - A March 13 trial date has been set for a Mason City woman accused of starting a clothes dryer with her 22-month-old son inside.
The Globe Gazette reports that 26-year-old Mallory Hakes is charged with child endangerment.
According to police, her son crawled into the clothes dryer in the home's basement to hide. They say when Hakes found her son, she closed the dryer door and turned it on for only a few seconds as punishment.
The child wasn't injured.
A telephone message left for her attorney Tuesday was not immediately returned.
