MINNEAPOLIS - "The Lion King" is back where it all started.

The Broadway hit made its world premiere in Minneapolis in 1997 and has gone on to become the 7th longest running show on Broadway. It's been seen by more than 54 million people in 14 countries on five continents.

The show is currently playing at the Orpheum Theatre. Minneapolis is the first city in North America to host the show four times.

It takes over 130 people to put on the show each night and uses 18 trucks to get puppets, set pieces and other props from city to city.

J. Anthony Crane, who plays Scar, took KARE 11 Sunrise backstage to show off what you don't see from the audience. Crane grew up in Minneapolis and still has family in the Twin Cities.

"The Lion King" runs through February 12 at The Orpheum Theatre. It runs every day except Monday. You can purchase tickets a number of ways:
