MINNEAPOLIS - Sources say Timberwolves All-Star power forward Kevin Love will sign a four-year, $62 million extension, making him the cornerstone of the team's rebuilding effort for the immediate future.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press, citing a source that is "close to the situation," says the deal will be signed Wednesday.

Love, for his part, isn't confirming anything. Tuesday night he Tweeted:

"If you read it on the Internet it must be true right? #sarcasm"

A source with the Timberwolves told KARE 11's Dave Schwartz that no deal is done yet between the team and Love, but adds that talks have been going so well the Wolves would be surprised if they didn't have an agreement today.

Other media outlets say negotiations are continuing, but no one else has reported an agreement.

Love is in Dallas prepping for a game against the Mavericks. NBA teams have until 11 p.m.  tonight to sign contract extensions with players selected in the 2008 draft.

The Pioneer Press reports that Timberwolves president David Kahn and team lawyers flew to Dallas on Tuesday afternoon to complete paperwork on the contract, the source said. The contract must be signed by all parties and submitted to the league office before the deadline to make the deal official.

Insiders say Love had been seeking a 5-year deal. He is earning $4.6 million this season, and averaging 24.9 points and 13.9 rebounds. The third-year player leads the NBA with 16 double-doubles and many pundits have been hailing him as the best power forward in the NBA.

KARE 11 will be following this story, and will post the latest as it becomes available.
