GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Another meager snowfall is on the way for Friday afternoon, enough to be a bother but not enough to beef up an almost non-existent base. It's indicative of the weather we've had all January.

A quick moving system will give us just a dusting to 1 inch of snowfall at the most for the metro area. Snow showers will start late morning to around lunch time, and end during the afternoon and early evening commute. Expect possible slushy and wet conditions since temps will still be in the low to mid 30s.

We're seeing under half our normal January snowfall and of course, very mild overall temperatures. January's high temperature is averaging around 30 so far this month and looks to end that way.

Temperatures are averaging 22.5 degrees (highs & lows) for the month so far, and looking at the forecast for the last 5 days of January we will end up probably around 22.6 degrees. That would set us up to be about the 9th warmest January on record.

This will make the 4th consecutive month of temps ranking in the top 10 warmest. It also makes January the 8th consecutive month of warmer than normal temperatures. Worth noting as well is that January marks our 5th consecutive month of well below normal precipitation, making a dry situation even worse.
