EAGAN, Minn. - GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was "glitter bombed" while on his way to the stage at a campaign event in Eagan Wednesday morning.

KARE photographer Aethan Hart was among those covering Romney's campaign stop. He was filming and saw the apparent glitter bombing. Hart said glitter was still visible in Romney's hair as he left the appearance, and shot images of someone being led out by authorities.

Video shot by NBC showed former governor Tim Pawlenty helping brush glitter off Romney's shoulder.

At this point the identity or agenda of the glitter bomber has not been confirmed.

Glitter bombing - throwing confetti or paper on a candidate during an event - has become a common protest by some against Republicans.

Newt Gingrich was glitter bombed last spring while making a Minnesota appearance.
