MINNEAPOLIS - The Hennepin County sheriff's department is warning people to use caution on all bodies of water after warm weather has caused thin ice and open water.

Deputies say two vehicles broke through the ice on Lake Minnetonka in the last week.

Two men in a pickup were able to escape when the vehicle broke through the ice on Saturday. No one was hurt.

On Wednesday, a man and a juvenile in a sports utility vehicle broke through the ice but they also escaped and were not hurt.

Four inches of ice is the recommended minimum thickness for walking and small group activities.
