Sauk Rapids man arrested after switchblade threat

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. - A 27-year-old Sauk Rapids man was in Stearns County Jail on Saturday after being accused of holding a switchblade to a man's throat and threatening to cut him.

According to St. Cloud police, at 2:19 a.m. a man approached officers in front of a bar in the 10 block of Fifth Avenue South in downtown St. Cloud. He told them he'd been threatened with a knife.

Officers found the suspect, Matthew Simon Umbreit, with a switchblade knife that matched the description of the weapon given by the victim.

Umbreit is expected to face second-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon charges, according to police.
