MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love was suspended for two games after an incident in Saturday night's game against the Houston Rockets at the Target Center.

"There was no ill intention in that step," Love said on Tuesday. "I wasn't trying to get a stomp on him like other people said."

The league suspended Love without pay for "driving his foot into the upper body and face of the Houston Rockets' Luis Scola as Scola was lying on the floor," during the third quarter Saturday night.

On Monday, Love said he, "went down there and apologized to him after the game. To his teammates, to the locker room, to his coaches... but more importantly, him."

Timberwolves Head Coach Rick Adelman said he disagreed with the suspension. "Do I think it's fair? No, absolutely. I don't know the reasoning, they don't tell you the reasoning."

Love will miss games Tuesday (vs. Sacramento) and Wednesday (at Memphis). He will be eligible to return Friday night when the Wolves host the Dallas Mavericks at Target Center.

"He's a key player for us. And there's times like every player you get upset because things aren't called, but there's nothing you can do about it but play through it," Coach Adelman said.

Love said this was a learning experience for him and, "it definitely won't happen again."

Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations, made the announcement Monday morning.

The Timberwolves won the game 100-91. Love had 25 points and 18 rebounds in the contest.
