BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - On the eve of the Minnesota Caucuses, Newt Gingrich made a campaign stop in Bloomington Monday night.
The Republican Presidential candidate spoke before several hundred people at the Ramada near the Mall of America.
Gingrich told the crowd that, if elected, he would repeal President Barack Obama's Federal Health Care Law, modernize the Food and Drug Administration and make job creation a priority. The former speaker of the U.S. House said the way to do that would be changes to the tax system and unemployment.
"We should never again pay someone 99 weeks to do nothing. 99 weeks is long enough to get an associate degree, " said Gingrich.
Gingrich was interrupted briefly by hecklers in the crowd, but he took it in stride. He also made promises to increase oil production and get work to begin on the Canada-to-Texas Keystone XL oil pipeline.
GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul was also in Minnesota Monday, making stops in St. Cloud and Minneapolis.
