BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - Brooklyn Park police have arrested a man in connection with an apartment fire late Tuesday night that chased nearly two dozen families into the cold.
The male suspect was taken into custody minutes before 10 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators say he may be linked to multiple nuisance fires that have been set at 6500 block of 67th Avenue North over the past five months.
Those old cases will likely be reopened now that an arrest has been made.
Tuesday's fire was set in a upper floor laundry room.
Authorities say 22 families had to find alternative housing last night because utilities to the building were turned off as crews fought the fire.
Arson charges are expected against the suspect in the coming days.
