GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A police pursuit that wound across the west metro ended with a crash that snarled rush hour traffic Friday morning.

The West Hennepin County police chief says it all began around 6:30 a.m. when someone stole a Dodge Charger from a convenience store in Cokato.

Police were notified, and soon intercepted the stolen car near Orono at the intersection of Highway 12 and County Road 92. They attempted to pull the driver over but he sped off.

Squads pursued the stolen vehicle eastbound down State Highway 12 and Interstate 394 before the suspect crashed into at least two other vehicles on State Highway 55 and General Mills Boulevard, right in front of KARE 11.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Authorities say no one was hurt in the crash, although several vehicles were damaged. One lane of eastbound Hwy. 55 was blocked for about 30 minutes, as were all lanes of northbound General Mills Boulevard while the situation was sorted out and cars were towed.
