GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - KARE 11 Sunrise anchor Tim McNiff makes no secret of the fact he is one of the only people in the newsroom who don't have a company-issued iPhone. (He really wants one).
What happened Wednesday morning on Sunrise was perhaps an effort to illustrate his lack of familiarity with the device. Consumer technology columnist Julio Ojeda Zapata from the St. Paul Pioneer press was on Sunrise demonstrating devices when he showed off a super cool toy helicopter operated by an iPhone ap.
Zapata, of course, took off and landed with spectacular flair. When technology-challenged Tim tried his hand, the results were nearly catastrophic. He piloted the tiny chopper into the studio light grid, sending it plunging to the ground.
At that point, however, Tim demonstrated his old school athletic prowess by utilizing a hacky sack back-kick of sorts, saving the little chopper from hitting the ground with a thud.
Try making an Ap for that.
