MINNETONKA, Minn. - An 18-year-old woman is recovering from head injuries after apparently leaping from a bus Wednesday morning.

Minnetonka Police Captain Scott Boerboom tells KARE 11 that it happened around 8:30 a.m. A special needs bus headed towards New Hope was proceeding eastbound on Highway 7 near Minnetonka High School when the 18-year-old female passenger became agitated and despondent. She reportedly ran to the back of the bus and jumped out.

Fortunately the vehicle had already started to slow down, but the teen did suffer head injuries that are described as "minor." She was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where the teen is reported in stable condition.

Investigators are talking to the bus driver and an aide who was also aboard in an attempt to figure out what happened.
