COON RAPIDS, Minn. - Come summer, drivers in Coon Rapids will have to pay first before filling up their tanks.
By a vote of 5-2, the Coon Rapids City Council approved an ordinance that makes prepaying for gas mandatory. The ordinance is scheduled to take effect August 1.
The city located in the northwest Twin Cities Metro becomes the first in Minnesota to approve such an ordinance.
Coon Rapids Police say gas drive offs are the most common theft in the city.
