NEAR PAYNESVILLE, Minn. - Fire tore through a barn near Paynesville early Wednesday, killing an estimated $60,000 worth of rabbits and destroying thousands in farm equipment.
Sheriff's deputies and fire crews were called to a farm on County Road 33 in Zion Township, about five miles north of Paynesville just before 1:45 a.m.
A neighbor called in the fire and then woke up owner Scott Roman Klehr, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office said.
In addition to the rabbits, $8,000 worth of saddles, a $2,500 manure spreader and unknown amount of tools and equipment were also destroyed.
At this point the cause of the fire is unknown.
