3700 block of Tyler Street in Columbia Heights
ANOKA, Minn. - Prosecutors have charged a Columbia Heights man with attempted murder after they say he stabbed his girlfriend a dozen times.
Police arrested 39-year-old Antonio Robinson after the alleged attack the night of February 19. Officers were called to a home on the 3700 block of Tyler Street in Columbia Heights and found the victim, an adult female, covering a wound on her stomach and bleeding profusely.
The victim told them that Robinson had stabbed her after she told him their relationship was over. She was in bed at the time feeding her 2-year-old child a bottle.
Witnesses say when the victim told Robinson to leave, he grabbed a kitchen knife, said "watch this," and then began stabbing her. The suspect then fled the home.
Police found him a short time later with blood on his clothing.
After his arrest Robinson told police that the victim had been nagging him, and that it was she who was carrying the knife. He claimed they were poking each other with knives and insisted he was only trying to scare her.
Among the wounds suffered by the victim is a deep laceration that runs from her chin to her forehead. It runs over her eyelid and eye, and doctors aren't sure if her vision will be permanently impacted.
The victim remains hospitalized.
If found guilty of second degree attempted murder, Antonio Robinson faces a possible 20 years in prison.
