MINNEAPOLIS - Injured Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player Jack Jablonski has reached another milestone as he undergoes rehabilitation for a spinal cord injury.

In a posting on CaringBridge.org, the family wrote that doctors removed the halo from around Jablonski's head on Wednesday.

The nine pound piece of equipment supported Jablonski's head, neck and upper body after he suffered a paralyzing injury during a junior varsity game in December.

The family said Jablonski was thrilled to move his head and "see the world from a more normal view."

The family added Jablonski will now begin to work to strengthen his upper body.

Jablonski's is at Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
