GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- The idea of buying local is making its way into schools. It's a new initiative called "Farm To School" which is aimed at getting fresh foods to students, while also boosting the local economy.
A new documentary, "Farm to School: Growing our Future," which was produced in partnership with the University of Minnesota Extension, The Minnesota Department of Health and Twin Cities Public Television is also part of the initiative.
Barb Mechura, Nutrition Services Director in the Hopkins Public Schools, took part in the documentary and joined us on KARE 11 Sunrise with more on the project.
