MINNEAPOLIS - In terms of monetary value the thefts weren't exactly skimpy, but police say the loot stolen by a busy lingerie thief doesn't leave much to the imagination.
A Minneapolis man is charged with stealing more than $1,500 worth of bras and lingerie from Victoria's Secret at 3000 Hennepin Avenue South during at least 3 visits to the store.
Officers were called to the store on March 29 and told by the store manager that a man had just walked out after stealing a large number of bras. They quickly spotted the suspect walking down Lake Street and arrested 45-year-old Elbert Lee Wilkins.
Wilkins was carrying a plastic bag filled with merchandise. Investigators looked at surveillance footage and determined that the suspect had stolen from Victoria's Secret several times, and then identified Wilkins as a man they say stole hundreds in merchandise from a nearby CVS Pharmacy.
If convicted Elbert Wilkins faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
