MINNEAPOLIS -- Twelve people were arrested Saturday night during an Occupy MN demonstration in downtown Minneapolis.
Sgt. Stephen McCarty says that the group was arrested for blocking traffic and being a public nuisance after demonstrators took to the street near 9th Street and Nicollet Mall around 11 p.m.
Six months after the movement began, Occupy MN returned to downtown, this time at two sites: Peavey Plaza and Loring Park. Mccarty says demonstrators traveled between the two locations leading up to the arrests Saturday night.
Protesters occupied the government plaza last fall and spent the winter occupying homes, protesting foreclosures.
All protesters arrested have been released.
