Owners of The Left Handed Cook, Thomas Kim and Kat Melgaard are here with us to showcase the Korean dish, BibimBop which means mixed rice.
2 cups of cooked short grain rice
Kimchi - 2 Tablespoon, chopped
Green Onions - 2 stalks, thinly sliced on bias
Gaenip (Korean Perilla) - 2 leaves, julienned
White Onion - 1/4 piece, thinly sliced along the grain
Shiitake Mushrooms - 1/4 cup, sauteed
Meat of your choice (Ground beef, chicken, pork, etc.) - 4 oz.
Gochujang - 1 tablespoon
Sugar - 1 tablespoon
Soy Sauce - 1 tablespoon
Rice Wine Vinegar - 1/4 tablespoon
Spinach - 1 Cup
Sesame Oil - 2 tablespoon
Almond - 1 tablespoon
Cook over easy
Blanch the spinach in hot water for a few seconds until vibrant green and slightly wilted, immediately shock in ice water to stop cooking. Strain the spinach and gently squeeze excess water out. Mix blanched spinach with sesame oil, salt and almonds.
Combine sugar and soy sauce until sugar is dissolved. Then add Gochujang and sesame oil. Mix thoroughly. Spread cooked rice inside a deep bowl. Arrange all the ingredients on top then place egg in center. Blend in the gochujang sauce according to taste.
Fully mix and enjoy!
