ST. PAUL - All this week, Twin Cities residents are being urged to bike or walk at least once. Twin Cities Bike Walk Week is packed with events and activities. For a full list, click here. Nearly 10,000 people took part in the event last year.
Just in time, 30 new Nice Ride Minnesota stations are being opened Monday, most of them in St. Paul. Since launching in June 2010, around 350,000 trips have been taken using the bikes. For a map of all station locations click here.
A unique public art exhibit is on display to bring awareness to Twin Cities Bike Walk Week. Bicycling Counts will be set up at a different location every day and, using censors, counts how many bicyclists pass by. Then, data that includes gasoline and money saved, will be projected on a nearby building at night. Created by artist Arlene Birt, the exhibit was last displayed in Sweden. You can track the exhibit all week on Twitter, and get hints for where it will be set up each morning.
