Hiawatha Light Rail in downtown Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS - Scheduled construction and maintenance work will shut down a stretch of the Hiawatha light-rail line this weekend.
Between 6:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 a.m. Monday, crews will work on the section of rail that runs between Target Field Station and Franklin Avenue Station.
During that time Route 55 buses will substitute for light-rail trains. Trains will operate normally elsewhere along the 12-mile line.
Buses will operate more frequently than trains but bus trips will take a bit longer and Metro Transit advises customers to plan accordingly. Rider Alerts will be posted at stations with details and station-specific maps to direct customers to Route 55 bus service.
Metro Transit staff will also be on hand at key train stations to help customers get where they're going.
During this weekend's construction, the Target Field, Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue, Nicollet Mall, Government Plaza, Downtown East/Metrodome and Cedar-Riverside light-rail stations will be closed.
