MINNEAPOLIS - Registration has closed for the 2012 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

Twin Cities in Motion announced the October 7 race reached capacity Monday night. More than 11,000 runners registered for the marathon.

"Filling the field again this year is a testament to the commitment to healthy lifestyles that runners continue to uphold. The tremendous community support welcoming marathon participants each year makes this event one we are proud to be part of," said Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director, Virginia Brophy Achman.

Runners still hoping to participate in the marathon can still take part through the Twin Cities In Motion Community Partners Fundraiser Entry Program benefiting youth fitness programs including Bolder Options, Migizi Communications, YWCA of Minneapolis and Girls on the Run Twin Cities.

The fundraiser offers 150 additional online marathon entries with donations used to support these partners.
