WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - The advisory warning residents of West. St. Paul against drinking tap water from the city system was lifted Wednesday after tests revealed no harmful bacteria in the system.
"We are lifting the drinking water advisory after receiving the results from our comprehensive sampling program confirming that there are no bacteriological contaminants in the water being distributed through our mains," said Steve Schneider, Saint Paul Regional Water Services general manager.
The advisory was issued Tuesday after a power outage caused by early morning storms triggered a power outage, which dropped pressure to a level low enough to allow the intrusion of bacteria.
The area impacted by the "do not drink" advisory ran from Highway 52 in the east, Mendota Road in the south and Delaware Street in the west. From Delaware, the northern border area follows along Dodd Road to the south side of Bernard Street to Bidwell, then south to Butler Ave. to Robert Street and south to Emerson Avenue to Oakdale and south to Wentworth Avenue and back to Hwy. 52.
"Customers can resume normal water usage," Schneider said. "West Saint Paul's service and pressure have returned to normal."
