MINNEAPOLIS - An elderly man previously convicted of robbing three banks is accused of robbing a fourth on Monday in Minneapolis.
Police say Roger Doughten, 78, was taken into custody inside the bank by an off-duty Minneapolis Police Officer.
Doughten approached a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank in the 2600 block of Franklin Avenue East at about 6 p.m., police say. They say Doughten handed over a note threatening the clerk's family.
Police say Doughten was convicted of robbing a bank in 1988 in Kentucky, in 1996 in Washington and in 1998 in Nebraska.
Doughten faces charges of simple robbery and terroristic threats, police say. He's being held in the Dane County Jail.
