NORWOOD YOUNG AMERICA, Minn. - It was a long, hot night for firefighters from eight different fire departments as they put down an industrial fire in Norwood Young America overnight Wednesday and Thursday.
Crews were called to the Waste Management facility around 9:30 p.m., where they found smoke pouring from the vents of the building. Firefighters from Norwood Young America rotated with responders from nearby communities due to the heat and humidity, which did not dip much after the sun went down.
Those rotating off the active firefight quickly peeled off their turnout gear and hydrated to battle the elements.
No one was inside the facility when it started on fire. Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
