MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis Police are looking for a man who they say was involved in a hit-and-run that took place Wednesday night.
Police say the incident occurred near the corner of Lyndale Avenue South and 24th Street in South Minneapolis at about 6 p.m.
Witnesses told police that the victim, Matt Call, 23, of Minneapolis, was thrown 20 to 30 feet in the air after he was struck while getting into his vehicle.
"I came out here to see what happened," said Nat McKay, a friend and co-worker of Call's. "I thought he was dead. The injuries were very serious."
Call, a barista at the nearby Urban Bean and a local musician, has two broken femur bones and several other injuries. Call is listed in serious condition at Hennepin County Center, but is concious and surrounded by loved ones.
"We are very blessed that he's alive," said his girlfriend Missy Morken, who also witness the incident. "Matt isn't bitter and he forgives the person, but he wants them to come forward."
Police said they are looking for a white man who was driving a black Jeep Cherokee with gray trim. Officials said the SUV will have damage to the front passenger side.
"We would like anyone with information give us a call," said Sgt. William Palmer. "We're not sure why he didn't stop, but it's obviously much better that he comes to us rather than us tracking him down."

Calls friends said it will be months before he will be able to walk again. They have set up a website where people can make financial donations to help him through his recovery.
